Scope and Limitations of Homœopathy...

Hahnemann in his Organon of Medicine 6th edition in aphorism – 2 says,
“The highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and permanent restoration of the health, or removal and annihilation of the disease in its whole extent, in the shortest, most reliable, and most
harmless way, on easily comprehensible principles.”

In the community, there are some false belief rendering the Scope and Limitations of Homœopathy be misunderstood. Here I share and try to crack some false belief as to understand what could be the real extent of  Scope and Limitations of Homœopathy.

Some of the false beliefs are as follows :

• Homoeopathy is slow acting.
• Homoeopathy takes longer to cure.
• Homoeopathy at first aggravate the condition and then it goes towards cure.
• Homoeopathy is limited for few conditions and it can't cure where there are pathological changes.
• Homoeopathy has no role where surgery is suggested by doctors of old school.
• In Critical or Emergency conditions it is only Allopathy which can help, and no other method.
• Management is the part of Allopathy alone and is not in Homoeopathy.
• Homoeopathy is not for diseases like Diabetes, AIDS, Cancers, Hepatitis, etc.
• It's not that much beneficial than Allopathy.

Let me start from the first point of the false belief, i.e.,

False belief - 1.  Homeopathy is slow acting. :

Allopathy, Ayurveda, Unani, etc.

             In allopathy and the other methods of Healing (Ayurveda, Unani, etc.) the medicines which are ingested, goes through the digestion process, and then move through circulation and then act, and also the effect is short lasting.

Homeopathy

            Whereas in Homeopathy the medicine touched, inhaled or ingested starts working from the very time it is introduced. As its action is directly through the nervous system and this system is the fastest system in the human body as well as in the every living thing where it is found.
And it acts for very prolonged time, even most of the time the single dose alone cure the patient.


False belief - 2.  Homeopathy takes longer to cure. :
It is about very few disease which are menifested at folds or layers takes longer, and these diseases which takes longer to be cured are for sure Incurable in Allopathy, Unani & Ayurveda (e.g.: Mental disorders, Immunological disturbances, Genetic dyscrasias, etc.)
And sometimes some physicians antidotes the medicines when it is going towards the cure, in order to continue the patient, so that their bussiness could run.
So, it is not Homeopathy what takes longer to cure but it is the physician who takes longer to cure.

False belief - 3. Homeopathy at first aggravate the condition and then it goes towards cure.
All those who have undergone the training in Homeopathy School, knows very well about the different types of aggravations, viz., Disease Aggravation, Medicinal Aggravation & the Homeopathic Aggravation.
If it is homeopathy which has aggravated a patient, it is not tormenting and it has aggravated only some of the signs which were already experienced by the patient in the history, and this time the aggravation lasts for just a while, and is not of prolonged duration. And it is very less seen that a patient with Homeopathic Aggravation calls for a doctor.
And if it is Medicinal Aggravation, which is the result of mistake of the Physician, here the patient many of the times, suffers a lot. And to hide their failure or mistakes, those physicians says, that, “It is Homeopathy, it aggravate at first and then cures.”
And so they defames Homeopathy.

False belief - 4. Homeopathy is limited for few conditions and it can't cure where there are pathological changes.:
This is because some of the Physicians doesn't respect Homeopathy at all. They frequently, shamelessly use to say that Homeopathy can't work in that very situation. The truth is that they doesn't know the scope of Homeopathy. They consider their lack of Knowledge to be the limit of Homeopathy.
I have a question for them that, in a simple cough & cold, at times there is a pathology develops i.e., Eosinophilia, will they treat the case with physiological doses or will refer this pathological case to their allopathic friend ? In an abscess there are pathological changes, will they refer the case to the old school ?
And in the cases of gross pathological changes, have they ever looked for the similimum and managed the case as Organon says ?
Apart from this, there are options of palliation when there is no hope in Allopathy.

False belief - 5. Homeopathy has no role where surgery is suggested by doctors of old school.:
Patients will be surprised by knowing that Homeopathy will fit best and easiest when there is surgery indicated. There are medicines like Silicea, which is known as the surgeon's knife. It can expel out the foreign matter from the body without pain and without any after effect.
There are medicines which can check internal bleedings, like Natrium sulphuricum, Crotalus horridus. There are medicines which can check neoplasms, Cysts, etc.
It is Homeopathy which has opened new vistas for sufferers needing Surgery.

False belief - 6. In Critical or Emergency conditions it is only Allopathy which can help, and no other method.:
In Allopathy, there is almost no hope when you have a patient with meningitis. It is Homeopathy which can help you out there. There are 141 medicines to cure the meningitis.

False belief - 7. Management is the part of Allopathy alone and is not in Homeopathy.:
There are books like Homeopathic Therapeutics by Samuel Lilienthal, where there is the management and medicines for different types of poisoning even.

Apart from this, there are hundreds of ways of management in homeopathy like the mother potencies, lower attenuations, etc. But the management doesn't mean, you're going towards cure. You are just managing the situation when you are unable to get to the similimum.

False belief - 8. Homœopathy is not for diseases like Diabetes, AIDS, Cancers, Hepatitis, etc.:
As everybody knows, Allopathic medicines always have their side-effects either you're using that for Coryza or for Cancer. For Diabetes, AIDS, Cancers & Hepatitis, there is no treatment in Allopathy but with disastrous sufferings and side-effects. While Homeopathy provides a better life during the very treatment. And many times it cures, these diseases.
In Diabetes if the patient becomes incurable, at least Homeopathy can give them better life without much sufferings and with no side-effects.

False belief - 9. It's not that much beneficial than Allopathy.:
It's now upon the reader, that
Is it beneficial or not, and Is it less effective than allopathy or other methods of treatment !

And one thing more I wish to mention here, that
In the book The Principles and Art of Cure by Homoeopathy by Herbert A. Roberts, he says in the last line of the first chapter, “ What future has Homeopathy to offer to you ? Young man, what have you to offer Homeopathy ?”

Setting the scene in OPD

          As a general tradition and mode of opportunity for the new comers in Homœopathy, the Homœopathic Medical Colleges deputes the BHMS final passed out students during their internship in the college’s OPDs, to make them learn the mode of practicing & prescribing.

At their full extent the colleges direct their Internees to learn practically the Art & Science of Homœopathy.

During this period the colleges sharpen the skill of their Internee to serve the community as a healer.

I’m not about to write just golden words about colleges & their OPDs. I’m just to say how to set the scene in OPD.

It is obvious that Internees are always guided by the Senior Doctors, but it is must for them to know that during a CASE TAKING, what is there to do, what is not to do, and how to take the case, as well.

Let we start. When a patient comes to you, just tell them to sit at first but with neutral behavior and exclude the power of position or attitude whatever you have. You must remove the arrogance and attitude from you before the patient & their attendant. You are healers, neither the rulers nor the dictators.

And now switch them on by just saying :-

“Tell me, what lead you here?” (Kaise aana hua?) or “What has been happened to you?” ( Kya hua aapko?) And stay back listening and observing them.

And first of all try to have sympathy towards the patient and try to feel the suffering and pain of the patient, this will stop you from spoiling the case.

Do not interrupt the patient or their attendant until they complete their talk or at least their sentence. And do not ask the suggestive questions as been guided in the Organon Of Medicine.

 Once the patient has stopped, ask them if they would like to tell you something more.

          They will never show the Soul of their suffering until you established the Rapport. The Rapport is the familiar and happy relationship between the physician and the patient.

You will have to become the friend of the patient at that very time of Case Taking.

You will have to console them at sometimes.

You will have to boost-up them by making them confident.

You will have to make them sure about their secrecy from your side.

          Once the Rapport is established, they will most of the time lead you to the similimum without much exercise over the case.

          When the patient is uttering his/her symptoms do not ignore them and do not displace your attention from them. And never ask or talk to your colleague or your senior until the patient has finished his/her sentence.

And if you’re not taking the case, just sit quite, watch the scenario and do not interrupt or suggest until, unless asked by the one who is taking the case. Even do not move when the patient is uttering and is in between the sentence.

And the above paragraph should be strictly followed.

          And at the end when you and the patient have finished, you must discuss the case with your colleagues and your seniors but not in front of the patient.

THE FRACTIONAL DOSE...

The Fractional Dose…

The Fractional dose was used by the Legend Dr. Hahnemann in his early days of Homœopathic practice as the process of dynamization wasn’t introduced at that very time.

Dr. Hahnemann concludes the medicine on the basis of similarity and was used to give that in weight, i.e. 1 grain, 2 grains, 3 grains, & so on.

He used to dispense medicines in few doses, but ensuring the least possible quantity to effect the treatment without overdosing or leaving any bad effect on the receiver’s body.

At that very moment he divided the dose in certain parts & instructed his patients to take the divided doses one after another at certain intervals. And this was the picture of Fractional Dose.

Even the proving in the early days of Homœopathy had been conducted with administering the Fractional doses of drugs.

As the time advanced and the research work of Hahnemann continued. He, in the search of least possible quantity of medicine to make the cure affect, reached the level of dynamization of medicines, so as, having no quantitative but qualitative medicines. He further goes towards the new vista of dynamization, and reached the 50 millessimal scale ( LM Scale ) of dynamization in his last time.

He was using the fractional method of doses only when the medicines were materials. And not when the medicines became immaterial & dynamic.

Because anything can only be divisible when it is on material plane and can’t be divisible when it reached the immaterial plane, but it can only be multiplied the uncountable times.

Apart from this fact, some of the so called physicians boldly use to say that they prescribe fractional doses of the potentized medicines, and not of just potentized but of highly potentized, like 200, 1M, 10M, & even CM. I’m surprised how they do that.

The matter doesn’t close here. They further practice a more amazing thing that if they need to prescribe 1M or 10M and they don’t have it, instead they prescribe 200 as 4,6 or 8 doses saying that the 4,6 or 8 doses of 200 equals to the 1M or 10M.

These microcephalic persons doesn’t realize the dynamic state of medicines and still live in the time of materialism and overdosing. It is good for them to use physiological doses & leave Homœopathy…

I’m really sorry to say this bitter truth. I’m not sorry for the persons indulged in Pseudo- Homoeopathy, but I’m badly feeling sorry for Homœopathy for having these types of pseudo followers.
